Hong Kong (China) Office's Prepares and Distributes Free Meal Boxes to People in Need
OOCL's Hong Kong (China) office promoted an array of volunteering opportunities to mobilize colleagues to volunteer for different community needs. In June 2023, the office collaborated with Gingko House, a social enterprise restaurant group that advocates senior employment, in organizing “Love Meal Box Campaign" to prepare and distribute free meal boxes to the disadvantaged.
Gingko House cares for the welfare of the silver-haired group. Apart from providing job opportunities for senior citizens to sustain an income, the social enterprise also gives away about 1,000 free meal boxes every day to elderly residents living in poverty. Our Hong Kong (China) office supported this initiative, with 16 volunteers visiting the three canteens of the social enterprise to prepare the meal boxes from quality ingredients. Our volunteers also had the chance to distribute the handmade meal boxes to the beneficiaries.
