Ningbo Office Delivers Picture Books Classes to Over 400 Children in Need
On October 20, 2023, our Ningbo Office organized a visit to a primary school in Wuxiang Town and conducted themed picture books classes to the students. 32 colleagues from both Liner and Logistics of the Ningbo office participated as volunteers and delivered 10 picture books classes to over 400 first grade students, most of them migrant children living in Yinzhou District. The activity was a joint effort with the NGO “Seeds Charity Reading Club” to care for children in need, especially those from migrant families.

It was the first time our volunteers participated in this type of volunteering activity, and they were deeply motivated by the children’s eagerness. With the students’ active engagement, each part of the activity flew naturally and smoothly, from storytelling, making DIY crafts to the interactive games.
Despite the brevity of the activity, the joy and beautiful memories lingered on in our hearts as both our colleagues and the children genuinely enjoyed their time. And it was the best reward for our work.
More about the “Picture Books Class”
The “Picture Books Class” is a reading program initiated by “Seeds Charity Reading Club” and Ningbo Customs Volunteer Association for children from migrant families. The project integrates picture book stories, handmade elements and games to increase students’ interest in reading in the hope of cultivating a lifelong reading habit in them to shape their characters and establish a healthy and positive attitude towards life. The program also aims to raise attention to the growth of migrant children, and to promote care and mutual assistance in neighborhoods. As of October 2023, volunteers have conducted over 300 picture book classes through the program, benefiting over 15,000 students while receiving widespread praises. The "Picture Book Class" was a silver medal project in the 2016 Ningbo Volunteer Service Project Competition and an Excellent Project in the Zhejiang Youth Social Organization Volunteer Service Project Competition.
