OOCL Hosts a Dynamic Student Visit to OOCL Korea

On March 13, 2025, OOCL organized an engaging ship tour and career exploration event for 20 students and teachers from the Hong Kong Sea School (HKSS), a government-funded vocational school dedicated to training future maritime professionals. This event, held aboard the OOCL Korea at Hong Kong Port, also welcomed members from the Merchant Navy Officers’ Guild - Hong Kong, a seafarers’ union.
Designed to ignite interest in maritime careers, the event offered firsthand insights into operational excellence and the diverse roles within the crew, reinforcing OOCL's commitment to nurturing talent in the industry.

During the tour, ship officers demonstrated advanced radar navigation systems, showcasing the critical role of technology in global trade. The students were excited to learn more about various aspects of life onboard, including dining, gym facilities, and overall welfare, enriching their understanding of maritime operations.
The Chief Engineer captivated the students with an in-depth exploration of the vessel’s propulsion systems and the ongoing development of marine engineering. The tour also included vital areas of the ship, such as the kitchen, dining room, recreation room, and gym facilities, further enhancing the students’ understanding of life at sea.
Captain Zhang Bo of the OOCL Korea remarked, “Seeing the students’ eyes light up as they grasped the scale of our operations was unforgettable. This is how we contribute to the future of shipping.”
Feedback from HKSS teachers highlighted the event's success in bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world maritime operations. Many expressed that this experience would significantly enhance students' interest in pursuing careers in the maritime industry upon graduation.
Through these enriching experiences, OOCL remains dedicated to inspiring the future leaders of maritime excellence.
