Sri Lanka Colleagues Participate in Shoe Donation Campaign for School Children
In January 2023, colleagues from our Sri Lanka office participated in a shoe donation campaign for school children. They contributed funds in purchasing new shoes – one of the most needed items – for 47 students in a rural area's school in the southern part of Sri Lanka. Our colleagues also visited the school and spent an enjoyable day with the students in dancing, sports and tree planting activities.
On January 14, 2023, 11 colleagues from our Sri Lanka office visited the G Kottawa Primary School. When they reached the school, they were warmly welcomed by the school principal, teachers and exciting students.
The school principal gave a welcome speech and expressed gratitude for our time and generosity. Then one of our Company representatives gave a speech introducing OOCL – what we do and our core values. This was followed by a singing and dancing performance by some of the students - as a warm welcome to our colleagues. They then had a fun and energy-consuming afternoon with our colleagues in sports and tree planting activities.
Schools, being the second home, serve several purposes in a child's life from boosting their confidence to making them learn the importance of teamwork and socialization. Going to school in a pair of comfortable and well-fitting shoes is vital for a child's health and development.
We are glad to share our time and resources in nurturing the younger generation.
