We expect high standards. We endeavor to be the best and demand the same high standards from our vendors.
We embrace continual improvement. Striving to do the right things right the first time, we adopt quality tools to pursue performance excellence.
We strive for innovation. We challenge our processes, think beyond boundaries and look for innovative ways to create value for our customers.
In 1991, OOCL first introduced quality awareness training for all employees. Quality has migrated from a specialist to a total-involvement approach and has been integrated into the daily business and goals of every department and employee in the company.
Our dedication to Excellence Through Quality has yielded tangible results including increasing lifting volume by almost 80 percent, and becoming one of the first in the industry to be awarded an ISO9002 certification – a control & compliance system that has been introduced to virtually all our offices and vessels around the globe. OOCL is recognized in the industry as being a quality carrier with superior schedule integrity and an impeccable safety record.
OOCL has implemented the Safety Management System (SMS) onboard its manned vessels since 1994. The International Safety Management (ISM) code contains the elements for the setting up our SMS, and is regulated by the International Convention of Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). For containerships, the mandatory date for compliance with the ISM code was July 1, 2002. SOLAS has been adopted by the majority of Administrations (flag stated) as the international requirement for the safe operation of vessels.
OOCL is committed to quality in everything, and as a core value, quality is a vital feature of our philosophy.
