Stuffing the Reefer

To ensure optimal airflow, please follow important guidelines below when stuffing a reefer container:

  1. Power off the reefer during stuffing to avoid ambient air exchange.
  2. Stop the genset during stuffing to avoid exhaust gas reaching the fresh cargo.
  3. Do not run the reefer with rear doors open.
  4. Do not plug channels at the end of the T-floor.
  5. Stow the cargo evenly to maximize stability and cover the entire floor (e.g. use filler, board or dunnage material) to avoid gaps and improve airflow.
  6. Make sure the airflow is not restricted by cargo or packaging materials. Especially for chilled perishable cargo, there must be ventilation holes at both the top and bottom of each carton to allow free passage of cold air through the entire load.
  7. Do not stuff over the red load line and do not stuff beyond the end of the T-floor to ensure optimal airflow. All exposed T-floor must be covered up to prevent air from short cycling.
  8. Cargo weight must not exceed the maximum payload of the reefer. For details, please refer to OOCL Tariff Rule S-7 http://moc.oocl.com/wls_prs_rp/public/ruleTariff/OOLL-100/S-7/display/today
  9. Total weight (cargo, container, genset and chassis) must not exceed the road and/or rail limits of all countries where land transports may take place throughout the shipment. For details, please refer to OOCL Tariff Rule S-7 http://moc.oocl.com/wls_prs_rp/public/ruleTariff/OOLL-100/S-7/display/today
