OOCL Announces Direct Calls in Riga on its Scan Baltic Express (SBX) Service

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) announced today that with effect from July 25, 2001 its weekly Scan Baltic Express (SBX) service will make direct calls in Riga, Latvia. This will enhance the service currently provided to OOCL’s Latvian customers. The revised SBX schedule will be Antwerp – Thamesport – Hamburg – Gdansk – Hamina – St Petersburg – Riga – Gdansk – Hamburg – Antwerp.

Neil Stringer, Director, Intra Europe Trade, London said, “We currently move a significant volume of containers to and from Riga with third party feeder operators to connect with OOCL’s deep-sea services to and from North America and Asia. By switching this volume to our own dedicated service, we can provide an improved service by closely synchronizing with the OOCL deep-sea vessel schedules at the North Continental relay ports. Additionally, our Latvian customers will have enhanced Intra European connections which we are constantly developing.”

OOCL’s Latvian agents are LSA Transport SIA, Riga.

OOCL, headquartered in Hong Kong, is a global container transportation and logistic provider operating from 160 offices in 50 countries. Linking Asia, Europe, North America, the Mediterranean, the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East and Australia/New Zealand, the company offers transportation services to all major trading economies of the world.
