Christening of OOCL Germany in Bremerhaven, Germany

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) celebrated the christening of OOCL Germany on March 24, 2001, a post Panamax container vessel ordered by the company under a long-term time charter agreement with the Hamburg, German-based company, Nordcapital .
Frau Luise Scherf, wife of Oberburgermeister Dr. Henning Scherf, Prime Minister of the city-state of Bremen, christened OOCL Germany.

OOCL Germany was built in Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd,  Korea and delivered to her Owners in December 2000. The 5,500-teu container vessel is designed for a service speed of 25 knots and is classified with Germanischer Lloyd.

OOCL Germany is currently deployed within the Grand Alliance on Loop B of the Asia Europe Trade. This loop provides a weekly service between the ports of Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Le Havre and Southampton in Europe and Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, and Pusan in Asia.
