The Grand Alliance members in the Transpacific Trade - Hapag Lloyd, NYK, OOCL and P&O Nedlloyd - have announced the suspension of their bi-weekly all-water extra loader service.
The service was introduced last June to meet customer demand for additional space during the peak shipping season in the Trans Pacific trade. The service will be suspended after the departure of the Mare Caspium from Hong Kong on 30 October.
The service had been operating on a fortnightly basis with calls at Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong in Asia and Savannah, Norfolk and Charleston in the United States.
The Grand Alliance members will constantly review deployments to see if additional capacity and service are required to satisfy the demand of their customers.
