ACE and ANL Announce Alliance

ACE Consortium (China Shipping and OOCL) and ANL Container Line Pty Limited (ANL) today announced that they have entered into a long term alliance agreement. The new alliance will exchange slots on the new "ACE" service which was announced last week between China Shipping and OOCL and on ANL’s NAX service covering Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

The ACE Service port rotation will cover Shanghai, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai, whilst the ANL service port rotation will cover Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Busan, Keelung, Kaohsiung, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. The first sailings under the new alliance is the CSCL Fuzhou from Shanghai on 15th May 2003, and ANL Explorer from Yokohama 12th May 2003.

The new ACE Service will deploy five container vessels with capacity of 2,500 TEU’s each, including two new buildings from OOCL namely "OOCL Sydney" and "OOCL Melbourne". China Shipping’s vessels "CSCL Fuzhou" and "CSCL Kelang" currently in operation under COZ service will remain in the new service. A 5th vessel "CSCL Genoa" jointly provided by OOCL and China Shipping will phase in mid June 2003. The "OOCL Sydney" and "OOCL Melbourne" will be equipped with 300 reefer plugs and will provide further improvement of reefer service to Australia and China reefer customers.

ANL’s NAX service deploys the following five container vessels with capacity of 2,500 TEU’s each with 300 reefer plug capacity: ANL Australia, ANL Explorer, Grand Vision, Independence and Amasis.

CSCL, OOCL and ANL are excited by this new agreement which will provide their customers with an improved, expanded service network and a highly reliable level of service which will cement their positions as the pre-eminent carriers between China, North Asia and Australia.
