OOCL Strengthens the KTX Suite - the Japan / South China Service

KTX-3, the new addition to OOCL’s industry-beating KTX Suite, will start operation on May 24, 2004.

The addition of KTX-3 service, is to meet the ever-increasing demand of customers to the already over-subscribed KTX Suite. New port calls include Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Hong Kong, before extending calls to Manila in South-East Asia. This service continues with direct port calls to Shekou and Hong Kong, followed by Tokyo. Besides adding a new port call to Manila in the Philippines, the service will also add another weekly departure from Japan to Hong Kong and South China, and vice versa.

The new service will deploy two more 1,216 TEU vessels with a speed of 22 knots, making a total of six dedicated vessels for the KTX Suite.

Since its introduction, KTX Suite has proved to be highly dependable and the most popular service to customers in the Intra-Asia market. The KTX-1 and KTX-2 link Taiwan, Hong Kong, South China, Fujian and Japan with a respective routing of Kanto-In / Kansai-Out and Kansai-In / Kanto-Out. This deployment strategy has enabled OOCL to provide direct, fast, reliable and frequent services to and from markets in the network.

The much strengthened three-loop thrice-weekly KTX service will continue with the same market focus of providing its valued customers with a service of high reliability, competitive transit times, high frequency and extensive port coverage.
