OOCL announced that it has opened its own office, OOCL (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. (OVCL) in Vietnam, and the office has commenced operation in May, 2004. This office is a full service office and will be fully responsible for all OOCL’s activities in Vietnam ensuring a high level of customer service.
OVCL is a joint venture company between OOCL and General Transport Services Co., Ltd (GTS) which, similar to the previous agent Gemartrans (Vietnam) Ltd (GMTL), is also a subsidiary of Vietnam National Lines. To ensure uninterrupted service to our customers, the majority of the OVCL team will be a combination of existing Gemartrans staff as well as those from the owner’s office.
Mr. Spencer Yang, President of OOCL (Taiwan) Co. Ltd. who also oversees OVAL‘s business activities said, " There are increasing business activities in Vietnam for OOCL, we have set up OVAL with headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City with branch offices in Hanoi and Haipong to serve this need. This is a strategy of OOCL."
