OOCL Wins Lloyd’s Shipping Line of the Year Award

OOCL is proud to announce that is has won the Shipping Line of the Year Award for its Australia-to-North Asia Trade at the 2005 Lloyds List DCN Australian Shipping and Transport Awards.

OOCL colleagues attended the prestigious Awards Presentation at a black-tie dinner in Sydney on the evening of 17 November. This is the 10th year that the award has been presented.

This year, the Liner Shipping Awards were restructured to produce a single-line winner in each of the major Northbound Trades. This was achieved by merging the two formerly separate categories of “Schedule Reliability” and “Customer Service,” which means that lines must perform well across two hurdles. For the award, a single winner is announced, rather than a consortium, as was the case in the old Schedule Reliability category.

OOCL was a finalist in the Australia to North-Asia Trade and in the Australia to East-Asia Trade, and won the Award as Shipping Line of the Year in the Australia to North-Asia Trade.

This year, Lloyds also listed a new award: The 2005 Shipping Line Customer Award. OOCL nominated Woolworths, with the wonderful result that they won the award. Gavin Custance, Woolworths' Group Manager, International Logistics, and his wife were invited guests of OOCL.

Congratulations to all OOCL colleagues who have worked diligently to keep the schedule reliability of OOCL’s services, which is now one of the award criteria, in addition to customer-service standards.
