 OOCL Europe Named at Geoje Shipyard


Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) is proud to announce Thursday, July 20 christening of its tenth 8,063-TEU SX-Class vessel, built by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd.

The newbuilding was named the m.v. OOCL Europe by Sponsor Miss Ye-Ji Kim daughter of Mr. J W Kim, the President and CEO of Samsung Heavy Industries, at the Geoje Shipyard,on Geoje Island, South Korea. OOCL will take delivery of the new vessel on 26 July 2006.

The OOCL Europe will be deployed with the       
Grand Alliance under the EU4 Service Loop,serving the Asia-Europe and Europe-Asia corridors.

Mr CC Tung, Chairman and CEO of Orient,

With the addition of this tenth SX-Class vessel to our fleet, the most modern in its class, OOCL is demonstrating our continued commitment to providing a Vital Link to world trade.”

The OOCL Europe’s EU4 Loop – Asia-Europe Westbound and Europe-Asia Eastbound - has a port rotation of: Rotterdam / Hamburg / Southampton / Singapore / Kaohsiung / Pusan / Dalian / Tianjin / Qingdao / Pusan / Shanghai / Ningbo / Singapore / Port Kelang / Jeddah, and back to Rotterdam for a 63-day round trip.
