OOCL renews US Customs security qualification (C-TPAT)

On July 2, OOCL passed revalidation for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), and gained a renewal of its certificate. OOCL first gained C-TPAT carrier status in 2002.

OOCL’s security training and standards are regarded as among the best in the industry. The C-TPAT revalidation process involved rigid inspections and visits from CBP officers to OOCL’s Pusan office, terminals and vessel inspections on board the OOCL China.

The Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program (C-TPAT) is a voluntary government-business initiative to build cooperative relationships that strengthen and improve overall international supply chain and U.S. border security.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)  recognizes that CTPAT program can provide the highest level of cargo security only through close cooperation with the ultimate owners of the international supply chain such as importers, carriers, consolidators, licensed customs brokers, and manufacturers. C-TPAT offers trade-related businesses an opportunity to play an active role in the war against terrorism.

By participating in this first worldwide supply chain security initiative, OOCL has ensured a more secure supply chain for our employees, customers and suppliers.
