OOCL Logistics (Japan) awarded Eco-Ship Mark
OOCL Logistics (Japan) Ltd has been accredited with an Eco-Ship Mark by the Japan Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport & Tourism. The Eco-Ship Mark is awarded to logistics companies who greatly contribute to the “Eco-Ship Modal Shift Project”, which aims to promote environmental protection by adopting environmentally friendly and efficient ocean freight transportation and logistics.
OOCL Logistics (Japan) Ltd. and IKEA Japan K.K. were awarded the Eco-Ship Mark on the recommendation of Imoto Lines, Ltd. The award was presented in Tokyo on February 4, 2009, by Mr. Shigeru Ito, Maritime Bureau Director.
Qualified companies may display the Eco-Ship Mark, a recognised quality symbol, on their vessels and equipment such as containers, trucks, chassis, to actively promote their contribution to environmentally friendly logistics services.
OOCL Logistics, together with one of its top customers, IKEA, implemented an innovative environmental protection scheme that reduces Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions by at least 50 %.
OOCL Logistics streamlined its operation and container supply and domestic feeder service, in collaboration with OOCL Japan.
With new store developments in the Tokyo/Yokohama region and Kobe/Osaka region, IKEA established its logistics centre in Nagoya and adopted domestic feeder transportation for cargo delivery, using OOCL marine containers, as suggested by OOCL Logistics. This innovative scheme incorporates one-way container traffic, utilizing imported international container equipment for domestic moves.
Domestic feeder service offered by OOCL Logistics sails from Nagoya to Kawasaki port, the gateway to Tokyo/Yokohama, from Monday to Friday. All IKEA shipments are carried by OOCL Logistics feeder vessels.
