OOCL Logistics helps customers achieve security compliance with successful 10+2 filing

OOCL Logistics has demonstrated its industry leadership and the importance of advanced information technology solutions, by assisting customers to achieve compliance with the latest security regulations from US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The new regulation, which became effective today (January 26, 2009), is the Advanced Trade Data Initiative, often called “10+2”. The rule requires importers or agents to submit an ISF (Importer Security Filing) 24 hours before cargo is loaded on board the vessel, and with “10” additional shipment data elements. Carriers are required to submit “2” additional items including a Vessel Stow Plan and Container Status Messages.   (For more details about 10+2 requirements, please visit the CBP website <click here>)

“We have been successfully testing this technology with actual customer data with CBP over the past few months, which means that OOCL Logistics’ customers were able to stay ahead of the curve as our solution was already in full operation on January 26,” said Joe Hogan, President of OOCL Logistics (USA) Inc.  “We are already filing shipments on behalf of our customers who appoint us as their filing agent.”

The company, which gained renewal of its Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) certificate in July 2008, is fully committed to cooperating with CBP on the highest possible levels of homeland security. OOCL Logistics was one of the earliest participants with CBP in the 10+2 program and has been in filing testing for over one year. OOCL Logistics provides vendor management services and as such, is fully capable of filing on behalf of consignees, who are obliged to ensure their data is correct for CBP.

OOCL Logistics offers customers an information technology and supply chain process solution - in the company’s MyPodium system – which effectively manages the requirements of ISF “10+2” for all customers.

"Our supply chain visibility synergies ensure that each client, who chooses OOCL Logistics as their ISF "10+2" filing partner, will be confident that this important information will be delivered to CBP in a secure, timely manner for each and every shipment. Our systems demonstrate our capability to deliver quality service for our customers, on time, all the time," said Mr Hogan.

OOCL Logistics’ information technology systems provide a full solution for all possible contingencies with regard to capturing or entering the data elements necessary for all of our customers and transmitting that data to CBP.  MyPodium has been developed as a module-based International Supply Chain Management IT platform, with the flexibility to meet the needs of diverse industry verticals and the advanced technology to keep pace with ever-changing supply chain demands.
