Demurrage & Detention Free Time and Charges

Dear valued customers,

We would like to inform you about our new demurrage & detention methodology, touching the calculation of days and tiers after the expiration of extended freetime.

The new D&D rule will be effective with rate date 1st October 2018, valid for
all shipments and all bounds, at origin and at destination.

Example (extended freetime of total 8 calendar days, 15 calendar days container usage):

Standard Terms:

  • 5 calendar days freetime as per tariff
  • day 6-10 (5 calendar days), EUR 50/container/day (tier 1)
  • thereafter >= day 11 (5 calendar days), EUR 80/container/day (tier 2)

Old rule with extended freetime:

  • 8 calendar days extended freetime
  • day 9-13 (5 calendar days), EUR 50/container/day (tier 1)
  • thereafter >= day 14 (2 calendar days), EUR 80/container/day (tier 2)

New rule with extended freetime:

  • 8 calendar days extended freetime
  • day 9-10 (2 calendar days), EUR 50/container/day (tier 1)
  • thereafter >= day 11 (5 calendar days), EUR 80/container/day (tier 2)
