German Inland Terminals Congestion Surcharge
Dear customer,

as already published in the trade press the handling situation in Antwerp and Rotterdam for container barges drastically and constantly declined.

Due to these circumstances a reliable and cost-efficient transport per barge is actually not possible and all inland terminals along the Lower Rhine served by us will apply a temporary Congestion Surcharge of EUR 15 per Container (laden and empty) for import and export containers effective August 01, 2007 which we will need to charge to you accordingly as per disbursement.

The basis is the respective sailing date of the barge, i.e. for export containers the ETS-date at the inland barge terminal and for import containers the ETS-date of the barge at seaport.

Furthermore we would like to point out that the current Demurrage&Detention regulations are not affected by this surcharge and will be applied unchanged.

Please contact your local OOCL office in case of any questions.
