Dear customer,
as a member of the Far Eastern Freight Conference we would like to inform you that FEFC members have decided to implement a new and more transparent Europe-Asia eastbound tariff which will come into effect October 1st, 2007.
The eastbound trade between Europe and Asia has seen substantial growth during the last 5 years. Nevertheless, the eastbound freight rates were at 6% of 1991 levels in 2006, and are even lower in 2007. In the light of this situation, the current rates of freight in the eastbound trade are not sustainable in the long term.
OOCL does therefore fully support this rate restoration which will comprise elements for ocean freight, THCs in Europe and Asia, outport additionals and surcharges such as BAF and CAF. In the interest of all parties involved the new rates as well as all additionals will be applied without exception.
