North America CP Rail blocking/bracing requirements

Dear customer,

We would like to draw your attention again to the changed blocking and bracing requirement for cargo moving on CP Rail in USA/Canada which come into effect May 1st, 2008.

Adhering to the described rules is the sole responsibility of Shipper and all arising costs will be for account of the cargo.

Customer Bulletin: CP International Rules Circular 7800

To continually improve and streamline Canadian Pacific’s operations at our Intermodal Terminals, items have been amended in CP Rules Circular 7800 effective May 1, 2008.

Item 160: Restricted & Prohibited Commodities
* Poison Inhalation Hazard (PIH) / Toxic Inhalation Hazard (TIH) shipments are now prohibited
   in Intermodal Service on CP.
* Bulk bladders/Flexi-bags are now prohibited in International Intermodal Service on CP.
* The Restricted Commodity list has changed to include: Granite, Marble, stone slabs or blocks, Railway wheels, Tubular Products, Metal or wire spools or reels, sheets or slabs, Ingots, Machinery and Machinery parts, Fork lift trucks and excavating machinery and parts, counter weights and cylinders, paper rolls and large tires.

Item 170: Transportation of Dangerous Articles
* PIH/TIH shipments are prohibited in Intermodal Service on CP

Item 208: In Transit Loads deemed unsafe
* Clarification of charges.

Item 250: Dimensional Shipments
* Removed reference to cargo 6" over width. Any cargo exceeding the dimension of the container will be considered dimensional.

Item 260: Terminal Service Charge
Increase in charges:
* Movement between Canadian points: $ 110.00 per 20ft, $ 135.00 per 40ft (Canadian Funds)
* Movement between U.S. and Canada: $ 105.00 per 20ft, $ 125.00 per 40ft (US Funds)

Item 295: Transportation of Heavy Metal Products.
* The item has been updated to include High Density Commodities.

Item 349: Port Re-handling Charge.
* A re-handling switch fee has been increased to $1000.00 (Canadian Funds) per car and now applies on containers originating or terminating at the Ports of Vancouver or Montreal that required re-handling or additional switching by CP to a CP inland terminal.

Item 420: Storage of Empty Containers at Canadian Terminals
* Charge to increase from $2.50 to $5.00 (Canadian Funds)

Item 650: Reconsignment, Diversions or Corrected Billing
* Additional Switching increased to $300.00 (US Funds)

Item 680: Collection of Storage Charges at U.S. Terminals
* CP Terminals will only accept credit cards for settlement of storage charges.
* CP will not supply paper copies of shipper required reference or authorization numbers, as this is part of the shipper’s internal records.

Item 790 : Overweight containers, U.S. – U.S. and Cross border
* The minimum weight has been adjusted on Export 20 ft containers from 44,000 lbs net weight to 46,000 lbs net weight. The minimum weight on Import 20ft container remains unchanged at 44,000 lbs net weight before the excess weight charge of $200.00 (US Funds) per container will be assessed.
