Dear customer,
OOCL is pleased to announce simplifications of Demurrage and Detention rules and rate structures for shipments via German ports, i.e. Hamburg and Bremerhaven.
Rules and exceptions had become increasingly complex over the last years, resulting in more and more questions and uncertainties from our customers. We are thus pleased to advise that effective January 5, 2009 OOCL detention tariff structures will no longer differentiate between German and non-German origin/destination cargo, meaning that all shipments will enjoy six days detention free time, irrespective of transport mode and ultimate cargo origin/destination. Truck moves within Germany will now be the only exception (three calendar days free time).
Moreover, we will no longer differentiate between calendar and working days when counting free times: All free times will be calculated on basis of calendar days only now.
In order to assist you with efficient equipment management we will certainly continue offering a wide range of Inland depots for pick up and return of containers in all major economic centers throughout Europe. Please kindly contact your local Sales or Customer Service representative for specific depot requirements.
Also, rules and charges for shipments via Benelux ports remain unchanged. For full details please refer to Benelux Demurrage & Detention
For full details about new charge levels and revised free times please refer to Demurrage&Detention Free Time and Charges via German ports (eff. 05.01.2009)
In case of any questions please contact your local OOCL office.
