Hamburg Port Congestion Surcharge for Truckings – wef July 1st, 2014
Dear valued customer,
following our announcement from April 8th about the temporary suspension of our Hamburg congestion surcharge, we would herewith like to announce the new effective date for the implementation of this surcharge.
You will have followed in press and other media that the traffic situation around Hamburg terminals continues to suffer from heavy congestion. With imminent major road construction commencing around Köhlbrandbrücke, Hamburg-Heimfeld and at the Elbtunnel the traffic situation in and around Hamburg is expected to further deteriorate. Trucking vendors are facing substantially increased turn-around times for their vehicles impacting their economical situation.
As a consequence Trucking companies have increased their rates for all transports via the port of Hamburg.
We will therefore apply a Traffic Congestion Surcharge for all truck transports via the port of Hamburg under Carrier Haulage effective July 1st, 2014.
The surcharge amount is set at EUR 30 per transport delivered within Hamburg, Bremen or Bremerhaven city limits and EUR 50 per transport delivered outside of Hamburg, Bremen, Bremerhaven city limits.
We would herewith ask for your understanding that we are unable to continue absorbing these substantial additional cost.
We thank you for your continued support to OOCL!
