Dear valued customer,
you will have followed in press and other media that the traffic situation around Hamburg terminals is suffering from heavy congestion. With imminent major road construction commencing around Köhlbrandbrücke, Hamburg-Heimfeld and at the Elbtunnel the traffic situation in and around Hamburg is expected to further deteriorate. Trucking vendors are facing substantially increased turn-around times for their vehicles impacting their economical situation.
As a consequence Trucking companies are now imposing a Traffic Congestion Surcharge for all transports via the port of Hamburg. This surcharge will be levied effective April 14th, 2014 (pick up/ delivery date) for all truck moves via the port of Hamburg. The surcharge amount has been set at EUR 40 per transport within Hamburg city limits and EUR 80 per transport outside of Hamburg city limits.
We would herewith ask for your understanding that we will have to pass this surcharge on to cargo interests.
For all Truck transports via the port of Hamburg under Carrier Haulage effective April 14th, 2014 we will therefore apply a Traffic Congestion Surcharge in the above mentioned amounts.
We thank you for your continued support to OOCL!
