Notice to Shippers
Import Requirement to Port Klang, North Port Terminal
First 6 Digits of Customs Harmonized Code
Dear Customers,
Reference to our previous announcement regarding the requirement to have 6 digits of Customs Harmonized Code (HS) for transhipment cargo via Port Klang, we would like to inform you that Port Klang Authority will extend this requirement for all import shipment to Port Klang, North Port terminal, with effect from November 1, 2009. Other ports in Malaysia are not affected.
Any import shipment without the HS code will be registered as an “unknown commodity”, and subject to additional checks and penalties.
For smooth compliance, from November 1, 2009 onwards, we would like to seek for your cooperation to submit the first 6 digits of Customs Harmonized Code when placing bookings/ SI submission if shipment import to Port Klang, North Port terminal is involved.
In case of non-compliance, cargos may be subjected to additional inspections, delays for loading and penalties might be imposed.
