New OOCL Chassis Policy in the United States
As stated in our advisory of March 1st, this is a reminder that effective May 1, 2011, OOCL will no longer provide chassis for import and export shipments to/from the following locations:
Denver, CO
Detroit, MI
Grand Rapids, MI
Milwaukee, WI
Mobile, AL
New Orleans, LA
Oakland, CA
Salt Lake City, UT
Wilmington, NC
All motor carriers, either working as suppliers for OOCL or OOCL customers, must provide chassis for these shipments as indicated below. Chassis usage fees for Merchant (CY) moves should be billed by the motor carrier directly to their customer.
Denver/Mobile/New Orleans/Salt Lake City
Motor carriers can elect to use the pool chassis or provide their own wheels. Flexi-Van is the equipment provider for these pools. If the pool chassis is used, the motor carrier must have a signed usage agreement with Flexi-Van. Charges to flip/lift a container to trucker wheels are for the account of the motor carrier.
Detroit
Motor carriers can elect to use the pool chassis or provide their own wheels. DCLI is the equipment provider for the pool. If the pool chassis is used, the motor carrier must have a signed usage agreement with DCLI. Charges to flip/lift a container to trucker wheels are for the account of the motor carrier.
Grand Rapids/Milwaukee
There is no CY service to these locations. Shipments are interchanged at rail facilities. Motor carriers must provide wheels either through their own equipment or they may lease a chassis from one of the major leasing companies (i.e. DCLI, TRAC, Flexi-Van, etc.). Chassis flip/lifts are for the account of the motor carrier.
Oakland
Shipments are interchanged at the marine terminal or rail facilities. Motor carriers must provide wheels either through their own equipment or they may lease a chassis from one of the major leasing companies (i.e. DCLI, TRAC, Flexi-Van, etc.). Chassis flip/lifts are for the account of the motor carrier.
Wilmington
There is no CY service to this location. Shipments are interchanged at marine terminals or rail facilities. Motor carriers must provide wheels either through their own equipment or they may lease a chassis from one of the major leasing companies (i.e. DCLI, TRAC, Flexi-Van, etc.). Chassis flip/lifts are for the account of the motor carrier.
If you have any questions regarding this change, please contact your local OOCL Sales or Customer Service representative.
