Fraudulent emails using “[email protected]” to deceive

Recently, OOCL is aware that there have been an increasing number of emails appearing to originate from “[email protected]” but are in fact sent by fraudsters.

These emails may carry harmful malware and/or messages to deceive the recipients.

Email recipients should always be cautious of phishing emails with some of the following observations:

• Be cautious if you receive an email that you have not been expecting.

• Check the email sender field and look carefully to see if it is indeed from “[email protected]” (and not, for example, from “[email protected]” or “[email protected]”) because the email address can be spoofed.

• OOCL does not send executable file attachments by email and may likely be a fraudulent attempt to deceive you.

• Hover your mouse over any embedded URL link in the email to check the true destination of the URL.

If you encounter a suspicious email from “[email protected]”, or have any doubt to the authenticity of the communications claimed from OOCL, please kindly contact our local representatives immediately.
