Service Tax on Prepaid Ocean Freight for Indian Import Shipments - Update

Dear Valued Customer,

Further to our previous announcement on January 27, please be advised that the liable party for the 4.5% Indian tax will be the importer with effect from April 23.

This change is in accordance to the amended Service Tax legislation (Notification No. 15/2017-Service Tax) enacted in India on April 13.

Hence, our prepaid freight invoice will no longer reflect the tax for shipments onboard on/after April 23.
