Demurrage & Detention Free Time and Charges

​Export / Import Demurrage & Detention (Free time & charge*)
*Demurrage & Detention Free Time and Charges for all Trades except Trans-Pacific Trade. Please refer to this link for details of United States related Services. 

1.0   Definition of Key Terms
Export Detention & Demurrage 2in1Export Cargo free time shall commence from the first day (00:01) of empty pickup at the carrier's facility (depot) and end at the same day (23.59) as per container yard (CY) cut off.
Import DemurrageImport Demurrage free time shall commence from the vessel’s actual ATA and end upon the container full gate-out from the marine terminal.
Import DetentionImport Detention free time shall commence on the next calendar day after container full gate-out and end at the same day of container empty return to the carrier's facility (Depot).
Free time & Charge** = Per calendar day per container
​Corresponding Tier Detention and Demurrage Calculation​Effective 16th Jan 2019, the Corresponding Tier Detention & Demurrage (D&D) Calculation is a specific methodology to calculate D&D charge after expiry of D&D free time. Unless otherwise specified, calculation of applicable D&D charge tier will start counting from the free time commencement day instead of always from the first charge tier. More details please refer to global rule tariff in OOLL-100 A-2 of Definitions.

2.4   Import Tariff - Kuching port (**)

INBOUND COMBINED DEMURRAGE AND DETENTION (DD2IN1) effective 16 Apr 2020 

(**) Kuching, Malaysia: Combined Detention & Demurrage (2in1) charges shall commence at 00:00am on the first calendar day when container is discharged, following the expiration of free time and end at 23:59pm on the same day of container's empty return.​

    3.0   Remarks
 (**)

  • ​(R11)= Charges will be calculated, collected by OOCL or agent on behalf of the Carrier and must be paid before BL is released.
  • (R12) = Charges will be calculated, collected by OOCL or agent on behalf of the Carrier and must be paid before container is released. 
  • (R13) = Charges will be calculated, collected by OOCL or agent on behalf of the Carrier and must be paid within 7 days from the date of invoice.
