SERVICE TAX FOR LOGISTICS SERVICE NOTICE
Dear Valued Customers,
The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) has commissioned that effective March 1, 2024, a 6% Service Tax will be charged to the companies that provide logistics services under the new category, (Group J).
Group J defines Taxable Person as,
- Any person providing logistic services, including all or part of the supply chain of logistic management services, warehousing or warehousing management services, freight forwarding services, port or airport services, shipping services, aviation services, or cold chain facilities services.
- delivery, distribution, or transportation of goods services.
- delivery, distribution. or transportation of goods, documents, or packages services through the E-Commerce platform, including on behalf of any person.
In line with this regulation, please be informed that ORIENT OVERSEAS CONTAINER LINE LIMITED will comply and charge 6% Service Tax effective March 1, 2024, depending on the nature of the service provided and the guidelines issued by RMCD from time to time.
In the event that the above legislation changes or further guidance from Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) is released, we will continue to apply service tax in accordance with the current laws.
