Regulation Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia No. 44/M-DAG/PER/10/2008 concerning on Import of Certain Products.
*Postponed by Regulation Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia No. 52/2008 dated December 12, 2008 with new effective date on January 1, 2009 for Garment and February 1, 2009 for electronics, toys, footwear and food and drink products.
To anticipate the negative impact from the global economic crisis on the local market for certain products, on 31 October 2008 The Minister of Trade issued a Regulation No. No. 44/M-DAG/PER/10/2008 regarding provisions on importation of Certain Products. This regulation will be effective from December 15, 2008 until 31 December 2010.
Basically, the Regulation stipulates that importers of certain products, i.e. electronics, textiles, toys, footwear and food and drink products, are required to obtain Appointment of Registered Importer of Certain Products, hereinafter referred as RI-Certain Products from the Minister of Trade. Under this regulation, ONLY IMPORTERS who have obtained appointment as RI-Certain Products can import the products mentioned above into the Indonesian Customs Area.Such importation will also be subject to verification from a surveyor in the loading port.

The appointment of Registered Importer of Certain Products will be valid for one-year period and can be extended.

The appointment of Registered should submit quarterly reports regarding import realization to the Director of Imports in Trade Department

The ports that will serve as entry points for five categories of goods include Belawan in North Sumatra, Tanjung Priok in Jakarta, Tanjung Emas in Semarang (Central Java), Tanjung Perak in Surabaya (East Java), and Makassar in South Sulawesi
