Auckland Terminal Disruption Surcharge

As a result of the continuous strike actions at Ports of Auckland, which has just extended to three weeks duration, OOCL has been trying to minimize the impacts of the disruptions to customers by implementing our best contingency options.  Unfortunately our NZS vessel this week Kota Permasan eta Auckland 26/Feb had to divert to Tauranga at short notice to discharge her inbound cargo under force majeure.  While OOCL has made arrangements to deliver Auckland inbound containers at Auckland Metroport this is with extra rail costs.

In order for OOCL to continue offering sustainable service in this trade, we have decided to apply an Auckland Terminal Disruption Surcharge to all affected cargoes on Kota Permasan v. 075 as follows :

NZD110/20'
NZD150/40'

This surcharge is also applicable to any future Auckland cargoes from vessels diverted to Tauranga and delivered at Metroport Auckland as a result of the current industrial dispute at the Ports of Auckland.

While this surcharge is only recovering the extra rail costs incurred, there are also other additional costs that OOCL needs to absorb, including but not limited to the additonal bunker costs to speed up our vessels for maintaining other berth windows and schedules, additional empty equipment positioning and storage costs.

If you have any queries regarding these matters, please do not hesitate to contact our local OOCL Representative.

Yours faithfully

OOCL (New Zealand) Ltd
