Port Congestion Surcharge - Shipments to/from United States

Due to the potential risk of significantly increased congestion in US East Coast ports in the event of a strike by the ILA (International Longshoremen's Association), OOCL has filed precautionary congestion surcharges with the US Federal Maritime Commission.

The surcharges apply to all shipments to and from the United States, due to labor unrest, including but not limited to strikes, lock-outs, work stoppages or slow down at any U.S. port(s).

The Port Congestion Surcharge will increase to USD800/20'   USD1000/40' GP   USD1125/40' HQ on the 1st of November, 2012 and is applied to both dry and reefer cargoes.

Please note this is a forward intimation as a precaution to address the potential for congestion as result of possible labour actions.  Should there be no labour action and subsequent congestion disrupting operations, this tariff will be nullified.  For updated status of the negotiations between ILA and USMX, please refer to USMX website :
