Taiwan Road Limitations
Dear
Valued Customer,
We would like to remind you of strict container
weight regulations for road transport in Taiwan. Non-compliance may result in
fines or additional handling and transport costs.
Road Limitations
- Maximum gross weight
(cargo + container tare + tractor + chassis + genset if any): 42,000
kilograms.
- However, when
using a trailer to haul a 20-foot export heavy container (Dry/Reefer), the
total weight it can carry is 35,000 kilograms.
- Maximum VGM weight:
Container Type | VGM (Cargo gross weight +
Tare weight) |
20GP (Import) | 28,500 kgs |
20GP (Export) | 23,000 kgs |
40GP | 28,500 kgs |
40HQ | 28,500 kgs |
45HQ | 27,500 kgs |
20RF (Import) | 27,500 kgs |
20RF (Export) | 21,500 kgs |
40RQ | 27,500 kgs |
- If the VGM exceeds the
weight limit listed above, transportation will be refused.
- Any violation
against the above regulation will incur heavy traffic fines (at least
US$600 per container) and the overweight portion should be devanned from
the container on the spot.
- If accidents and damages
occur during transportation due to overweight, the owner of the cargo
shall bear the relevant responsibilities.
Yours faithfully,
OOCL (New Zealand) Ltd.
