Emergency Bunker Surcharge Implementation

Dear Valued Customer,

To safeguard fuel availability, protect service reliability, and maintain schedule integrity, OOCL has announced a temporary Emergency Bunker Surcharge (EBS) to recover costs beyond existing fuel adjustment mechanisms. The surcharge will be applied on a global basis, monitored closely, and reviewed every 14 days to reflect prevailing fuel market conditions.

For shipments outside FMC scope, the EBS will be effective from 23rd March 2026 (shipments rate date), excluding Taiwan:
  • Shipments from AU/NZ to Taiwan will now be subject to LSA effective 01st April 2026. EBS will not be applied for shipments to Taiwan.
  • Shipments from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong to AU/NZ, will now be subject to LSA effective 01st April 2026. EBS will not be applied from these origins.
  • All shipments within FMC scope, the EBS will be effective from 13th April 2026 (shipments rate date).

The following table outlines the specific application and implications of the EBS for OOCL’s Australia and New Zealand trades on Non FMC lanes, effective from 23rd March 2026 (shipments rate date). Please refer to OOCL - Emergency Bunker Surcharge Implementation for full details, including FMC lane EBS levels.
