NAT Rail Service - Canadian Pacific Railway / Teamsters Work Strike
Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) Maintenance of Way Employees, represented by the Teamsters, continue a work stoppage against CPR that began midnight Tuesday, May 15, 2007. This employee group of 3,200 employees maintains the CPR right of way, track and rail structures. Shipment delivery and pick-up delays are occurring at CPR rail terminals due to disruptive Teamster picket activity.
CPR has sought court injunctions to prevent business interruption, a status of CPR Canadian rail terminals is shown below:
· Lachine (Montreal) Terminal - pickets - delay of 3 to 5 hours at terminal in-gate
· Vaughan (Toronto - TPT import/export) Terminal - no pickets - no delay
· Obico (Toronto - TAT import/export) Terminal - pickets - injunction not yet granted, terminal in-gate delays up to four hours. Court decision deferred from today to Monday, May 28.
· Winnipeg terminal - no pickets - injunction approved, no delays
· Calgary - pickets - injunction approved, terminal in-gate delays up to three hours due to congestion
· Edmonton terminal - no pickets - injunction approved, minor terminal in-gate delays up to 30 minutes
· Saskatoon - no pickets - injunction approved, no delay
· Regina - no pickets - injunction approved, no delay
· VIF (Vancouver Intermodal Facility - TAT import/export) - pickets - Court issued a modified injunction allowing Teamsters to talk to truck drivers for no more than 3 minutes. Facility is congestion, expect improvement over the weekend as shipments are evacuated.
· Deltaport and Vanterm (TPT import/export) - no pickets - no delay
