OOCL receives recognition from California authorities for commitment to environment
OOCL has received four certificates of recognition from US government authorities, for our contribution towards cleaner air quality in the Southern California region.
OOCL achieved a compliance rate of 100% for the voluntary vessel speed reduction program with the Port of Long Beach’s Green Incentive Program in 2009. OOCL has voluntarily participated in the program since 2007.
The four certificates of recognition were granted by the California State Legislature, the California Legislature Assembly, the Congress of the US House of Representatives, and the State of California Senate.
The State of California Senate certificate, signed by Senator Roderick D Wright, stated “To OOCL - in recognition of your continuing commitment to helping clean the air through the voluntary reduction of ship speeds as your ocean going vessels come into harbour, which is the greatest single factor in reducing the volume of harmful emissions into the air, and thus by your actions are you improving the quality of life for port workers, local residents and everyone in Southern California. Thank you for your commitment to the well-being of our community.”
The certificates were presented to OOCL on April 8, 2010 at a ceremony in Long Beach, California.
