Customer Advisory:  Port Operation Updates on Major Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan

Dear Customers

Subsequent to the earthquakes and Tsunami along the northeast coast of Japan on March 11, please find below the latest update of the port operations and our shipments.  We will keep you posted of further updates once new information is available.

Port Operation:

Operation of ports except Sendai, Hitachinaka and Kashima are resuming to normal.  Please refer to OOCL.com for the latest updates of our vessel schedules.

Booking

Due to the significant impact on the normal port operation, bookings to/from Sendai, Hitachinaka and Kashima will be suspended with immediate effect until further notice.

Affected Shipments

All cargoes which are on their way to the affected areas, will be discharged at the Port of Tokyo or Yokohama until the three subject ports are back to normal operation or the port situation becomes more stable.

As Force Majeure was declared for the vessel NYK Themis V.13e09, cargo destined to Sendai on the subject vessel will be discharged at Tokyo, and it is customer’s responsibility to make arrangements for cargo delivery at Tokyo.  OOCL will contact affected customers individually for details.

Up to now, we are still evaluating the impact of the export cargoes from the affected areas. We will keep you informed of the latest updates of the situation.  If you have any queries, please kindly contact our local customer service representative for more information.

We would like to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to those who are suffering from this natural disaster.
