Ice.....Camera......Action! A Visit to HOLLYWOOD with Holiday on Ice
For more than 60 years, Holiday on Ice has dominated as the popular leader of Ice Entertainment. With three shows on tour, visiting 70 cities in 25 countries and 2.5 million audience members each year, Holiday on Ice broke into the Guinness Book of World Record's in 2003 following the incredible milestone of having reached its 300-millionth visitor. Now, for the first time in 17 years, Holiday on Ice is bringing one of its most-celebrated shows to Asia: Hollywood.
This holiday season, Quest Entertainment is the presenter of the Hollywood Asian Tour in the five cities of Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Hollywood will thrill viewers of all ages with its speed, exciting acrobatics, elegance, brilliant colors, passion, dance, music and of course, with the laughter and joy it evokes in the audience. Everyone who attends the show is guaranteed to be swept along by the sheer exuberance of this gorgeous re-creation of Hollywood movie moods and memories.
Mark the dates for Hollywood in your diaries, as this not-to-be-missed experience is a spectacular show, performed by legendary Olympic and world-class figure skating professionals, brought to life by the choreographic magic of Robin Cousins, winner of the Gold Medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics.
The Master Choreographer
Robin Cousins won his first national title as a 12-year-old novice and became the junior champion at 14. He represented Great Britain as an amateur skater for eight years, winning the National Senior Championships for three years running.
He won the World Free Skating Championship gold medal three times, the European Championship gold and then won Gold at the 1980 Olympics at Lake Placid.
In 1983 Cousins formed his own ice company, and toured the world with Electric Ice and Ice Majesty. He also starred, produced or choreographed many international TV ice spectaculars such as The Wizard of Oz on Ice, Toy Story on Ice, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express and the movie The Cutting Edge.
Robin has made the successful transfer from sport to stage, playing the Prince in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, Munkestrap in Cats, and Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show in the West End.
The Show
Based on the most beloved movies from the glittering silver screen and dazzling in its glitz and sparkle, Hollywood combines the razzamatazz of a grand finale, and the glamour and the brashness of the movies with the Olympic ice-skating choreographic talent of the inimitable Robin Cousins.
In Hollywood, the ice becomes a glittering stage for scenes from action movies and musicals; from histories and comedies; and of course, from love stories. Each scene is accompanied by music typical of film, and adapted from actual movie themes.
The UK Western Morning Herald wrote: “Stunning ice skating combines with spectacular costumes and perfectly chosen music makes Holiday on Ice’s latest offering a brilliant success. Based on hit movies, Hollywood takes the viewer through a journey of classic and modern movies, depicting many of your favourite stars.” And the Times noted that, “Hollywood is polished all-ages entertainment, confidently whisking us through a century of cinema history. Focusing in turn on nearly a dozen genres, the show strikes a balance between humor and spectacle.”
The Logistics
OOCL is proud to be the Official Ocean Carrier of Hollywood, a production from the internationally renowned and celebrated Holiday on Ice.
With a production this complex, timing is critical. On and off the ice, the performers, in concert with the logistics and production teams, bring the magic of Hollywood to life. OOCL is recognized as the carrier of choice when it comes to musical, theatrical, acrobatic and technical-ice performances, as these projects demand extreme attention to details to successfully execute the intricate process of moving lighting, sound equipment, and the magnificent and decadent costumes for this stunning ice performance.
OOCL will move Hollywood’s unusual equipment, including ice-compressors packed in 6 units of 20’containers, in addition another 18 units of 20’ containers carrying delicate sound and lighting equipment as well as a remarkable array of costumes to five major Asian cities: Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hong Kong.
In fact, since the show began, it has moved 6,000 metres of footlights, 1,000 kilometers of electric cable, 900,000 light bulbs, and 15 ice compressors that serve 15 portable ice floors. This is in addition to the hundreds of costumes and thousands of kilos of sequins and rhinestones.
OOCL’s service quality guarantees that the right vessel is booked, the equipment requirements are fulfilled and that advance information is provided to the production team to make certain that everyone is informed of the progress of the containers so that priority loading and discharging procedures are carried out. Then we do it all over again so that Hollywood will make its way to the next city for another round of exquisite performances.
At OOCL, we believe that containers carry much more than cargo; they move ideas and culture. Hollywood and OOCL: We are your Vital Link to an icy wonderland.
