April 3, 2012 marked the 3rd workshop of the School Company Parent (SCP) program which OOCL is involved in. The program, which is aimed at helping students connect to the commercial world, involves a total of 6 workshops, with the final one falling mid May, 2012.

During this third workshop, the students from Pentecostal School in Homantin were invited to visit our offices in Science Park and Data Centre - and Modern Terminals Limited in Kwai Chung. The purpose of these visits was to help give students an understanding of a real work environment and how it differs from their school environment - and for them to learn more about our industry and operations.

During the workshop, Doris Li (HR-CADM-OOCLL/HKG) of HR gave a presentation on how our company and the industry operate. The students then visited the office and Data Centre where Ricky Ng (PS-TSV-ISD-OOCLL/HKG) and K W Chung (PS-TSV-ISD-OOCLL/HKG) gave them a run-down of the Data Centre, which they enjoyed immensely.

It was then off to Kwai Chung to visit Modern Terminals. The students were given the opportunity to visit the Control Tower to give them an understanding of how the vessels and containers were loaded in the terminal; as well as the importance of the logistics industry to Hong Kong.

The next workshop will be held on April 24, 2012. For this upcoming workshop, the focus of which is 'Qualities of Entrepreneurship’, Polly Cheung (COM-AET-TRADE/HKG) will share her work experience with the students so they can understand more about entrepreneurship.
