OOCL shared our experience in the HKIE Scheme “A” Graduate Training program for young Engineers OOCL was invited to share our experience in Graduate training and the article had been published in the 2011 “Guidebook on HKIE Engineering Graduate Training Schemes” in the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).
OOCL has always been recognized as the pioneer in IT development for the liner and logistics industry and has been investing enormous resources in training young IT talents to gear toward further development. OOCL was certificated as a HKIE Scheme ‘A’ company in 2009 and has started running a 2-years HKIE fresh graduates trainees program since then. There are now more than 30 trainees enrolled under the program. This program provides the young talents with a nourishing ground for them to become a seasoned IT professional through a structured training program.
In 2010, the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) interviewed eight Scheme “A” companies in Hong Kong; that provides young engineers with the opportunity to learn by experience, reinforce their knowledge through technical training and soft skills training so that they can apply academic theories into practice.
HKIE Scheme “A” Graduate Training program was chosen by OOCL primary based on three factors:
· Comprehensive – The capabilities developed through Scheme “A” training are expected to have a wider scope of application which would offer more benefits to trainees
· Systematic – Trainees are given clear objectives so that they can easily meet the requirements.
· Well-defined Benchmark – This greatly helps with the monitoring of output quality.
