  1. Project Cargo – New Destinations and 40’ Open Top Equipment

Beginning August 1st, we are expanding our scope for project cargo, which so far was limited to China and South Korea, to also cover the Middle East.

We will thus serve the following destinations for project cargo and breakbulk with special equipment:

Jebel Ali (direct)

Jeddah (direct)

Abu Dhabi Via Jebel Ali

Bandar Abbas Via Jebel Ali

Dammam Via Jebel Ali

Kuwait Via Jebel Ali

Bahrain Via Jebel Ali

Muscat Via Jebel Ali

Doha Via Jebel Ali

Sharjah Via Jebel Ali

Further we are now providing 40’OpenTop Equipment at our depot in Basel for shipment to China, South Korea and above destinations.

  1. Low Sulphur Surcharge – Baltic Ports

Under the requirements of the Marpol 73/78 convention, the Baltic Sea is designated as a special area as from 19th May 2006. This means that vessels operating in this area must use fuel oils with a sulphur content not exceeding 1.5%. Therefore, for cargoes to/from Baltic Sea destinations, a Low Sulphur Fuel Surcharge of USD 5/TEU will apply with effect from 1st September 2006. This will be in addition to existing fuel surcharges.   1. Revised customs regulations – Netherlands & Indonesia

Please kindly review and ensure your compliance to the new customs regulation.

Netherlands

Commodity Description

No general descriptions allowed (e.g. consolidated cargo, sporting goods, electrical goods, provisions).

Manifest description should be meaningful and related to the actual commodity being shipped. Customers must at least represent a commonly used general trade description. It is not allowed to use descriptions like "freight all kind, foodstuff, stc 'said to contain' "etc.

For a number of commodities it is mandatory to describe in detail the goods as per art.9 of the 'Douaneregeling' (legislation). It concerns weapons, ammunition, drugs, radio active commodities, meat, meat products, plants, wood, fruits, fishery products etc. to which specific legislation applies.

Indonesia

Cargo Detail

With effect from 1-Jul-2006:

a. Generic description like "Various Goods, Sundry Goods, General Cargo, General Merchandise, Personal Effects and Raw Material etc. is NOT acceptable.

b. A clear and precise commodity name is required.

c. HS Code data is mandatory to be provided by consignee in their Import Declaration to customs.
