Customer Advisory Melbourne Port License Fee Increase for Import and Export Cargoes

The Victorian Government introduced the Port Management Amendment (Port of Melbourne Corporation License Fee) Bill 2011, which proposed that the Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC) be required to pay an annual Port License Fee, which was levied to the Shipping Lines with effect from the 1st of July 2012.

PoMC has increased its tariffs by 5.2%. A major component of this adjustment is PoMC’s requirement to recover the annual Port Licence Fee (PLF) of $75 million (which is escalated by CPI each year), that has been levied on PoMC by the Victorian Government.  The increases therefore will be as follows:

Melbourne Port License Fee

·         applicable to all import discharge containers and export loading containers in Melbourne

AUD38 per 20’ container

AUD76 per 40’ container

The effective date will be 11th of July 2013, based on shipment onboard vessel date (for export) and arrival date (for import).
