Shipment of Vehicles and Machinery as Dangerous Goods - New Ruling

Further to our first announcement on this matter on November 03, 2011 would all customers please note that , the Maritime Coastguard Agency interpretation of Special Provision 962 has now been amended per the following advice.

With immediate effect, containers carrying Class 9 UN 3166 hazardous cargo no longer need to be placarded on the container or the cargo with Class 9 placards.

Until 1st April 2012, the UK will be allowing containers to either be placarded or not. After this date it becomes mandatory that containers and cargo shall not be placarded with Class 9 placards

For cargo to be exempt under Special Provision 961, only the fuel tank must be empty. Fuel lines and the engine do not have to be drained but the battery must be disconnected.

The meaning of "empty" is when the engine is run until it stalls due to lack of fuel.
