Customer Advisory: Japan Revised Weight Limitations effective April 1, 2008
Please be advised of the new weight restrictions issued by the Japanese Ministry of Land and Transportation for shipments moving via truck within Japan. These restrictions will be effective April 1, 2008.
1. Maximum cargo weight with tare (container weight) under road regulation
a) Weight Limitation for normal chassis (double-axle)
20ft – 20320kgs(44,000 lbs) / 40ft – 24000kgs (53,000 lbs)
b) Weight Limitation for tri-axle chassis
20ft – 24000kgs(53,000 lbs) / 40ft – 30480kgs (67,000 lbs)
Please note the following arrangements need to be made according to cargo weight:-
i) For containers less than 20320kgs, no restriction as this is within the guidelines
ii) less than 24000kgs, container needs to move on a tri-axle chassis
iii) over than 24000kgs, prohibited for ODCY/Door delivery and customers will be liable for any special arrangement/extra cost incurred.
