Customer Advisory - Indonesia – Wood Packing Material Requirement
Please note that with effect from 1 Sep 2009, shipments to Indonesia using wood packing materials and wooden pallets should comply with requirements from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Regulation No. 12/Permentan/OT.140/2/2009 released by Indonesia Customs.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture all imports are subject to the Quarantine Act for shipments to Indonesia using wood packing materials and wooden pallets. These must comply with International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) #15 and must be accompanied with a Fumigation Certificate.
Non compliance shall result in packing materials and wooden pallets to be destroyed by the authority at consignee's cost and may result in delayed delivery and empty returned.
Wood packaging that enters into the territory of Republic of Indonesia have a potential effect as a carrier of plant pest quarantine.
The wood packaging should also comply with the following provisions:
a. free from plant quarantine pest
b. debarked and soil free
c. have been treated and marked
d. for packaging carried by container should be accompanied by packing declaration from
country of origin where the treatment and marking should be conducted by an
accredited institution from country of origin
