Customer Advisory: Rail Carrier Labor Negotiation Status Update December 2nd
North American railroads reached tentative settlement agreements with two of the three remaining unions last night. The third union, the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees (BMWE), has agreed to extend the cooling off period until February 8, 2012. These developments eliminate the immediate threat of a rail strike in the United States.
Please note the Canadian operations of Canadian Pacific Railway and Canadian National Railway are not impacted by these labor negotiations.
