Customer Advisory: EU Regulation 1875/2006 – Advance Manifest – End of Grace Period

The European Union (EU) Commission and Member States agreed that the grace period for compliance to EU Regulation 1875/2006 will be effective until June 30, 2011, and there has not been any indication regarding the possibility of an extension to this date.

It is expected that this EU regulation will be strictly enforced starting from July 1, 2011, and anyone who fails to comply will face cargo delays and potential penalties which will incur costs to businesses.

To comply with the EU regulation, customers are requested to provide complete and accurate shipping instructions 2 working days prior to the load port cargo cutoff.  The shipping instruction documentation cutoff included in our Booking Acknowledgements/ Confirmations.   Failure to provide complete and accurate shipping instructions by the designated shipping instruction documentation cutoff will result in cargo, if already received, being rolled to the next available vessel with the exporter being responsible for all associated costs in addition to a $200 per bill of lading fee.

Please visit the EU website at http://ec.europa.eu/ecip/security_amendment/procedures/index_en.htm and the FAQ posted on OOCL.COM for more information about this EU requirement.

Should you have any questions or require assistance with regards to this advisory or your shipment needs, contact OOCL Customer Service in USA or Canada at 1-888-388-6625.
