Customer Advisory: Cargo Manifest Requirement in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ports

Saudi Arabia Customs Regulation on Cargo Manifest.

The Saudi port authority has recently issued a circular dated July 19, 2011, stating that any missing and/or inaccurate declaration of cargo description on the manifest to the Saudi Customs for import/export/re-export cargo will be considered a violation against the Unified Gulf State Customs regulation.

Therefore, customers are reminded to provide their complete and correct shipping instruction cargo description information that corresponds to the Customs declaration regulation. The actual cargo commodity name, and not the product name, is required for the BL cargo description. For consolidated cargo, “consol or consolidated cargo” is not a valid BL cargo description. For any failure to comply a penalty will be imposed at Saudi Arabian Customs’ discretion up to SR 2,000. Customers are solely liable for any fines, penalties and/or extra costs as a result of non-compliance.
