Customer Advisory: Burlington Northern Sante Fe (BNSF) Cargo Commodity Embargo Calcium Carbide

Dear Customer,

Please note Burlington Northern Sante Fe (BNSF) railroad has issued an embargo on any intermodal container rail movement containing the cargo commodity Calcium Carbide.  Calcium Carbide if mixed with water generates a flammable gas called acetylene.  In addition to the BNSF, the Norfolk Southern Railway, Union Pacific Railroad, and CSX Railroad have also embargoed  the cargo commodity Calcium Carbide.

Please note as well that OOCL does not accept any booking request for the cargo commodity Calcium Carbide based on the safety risks involved.
